1922 – 2013

FARMINGTON — C. Virginia Morgan, 91, of Farmington, passed away Saturday, July 27, at her home.

She was born in July 1922 in Forbes, Mo., the daughter of Oscar and Adrian Payne. She was a graduate of Central High in St. Joseph, Mo. Virginia worked helping her mother and brother run a restaurant during the Depression.

In 1943 she met her husband, Russell Morgan, and became a military wife. He passed in 2003. When he was done serving his country they returned to his home state of Massachusetts to start a family. Virginia worked as a secretary for many manufacturing companies, retiring from Sweetheart Plastics in 1987.

Virginia loved to read, write to friends and family and always had a knack for picking just the right card to bring a smile or a giggle from the receiver. One of her favorite pastimes was bargain shopping. She also loved traveling with her husband, especially to Athens, Ga., where they spent several winters with friends. Virginia was an animal lover and enjoyed planting flowers in her garden. Her sense of humor and positive attitude were infectious.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Gloria Sanborn of Florida; two grandchildren, Cheri Jalbert and husband, Ron, of Farmington, and Jeffrey Williams of Auburn; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse and Alanna; two great-great-grandchildren, Aubrei and Nikkole; a nephew, Dennis Payne of Virginia; and two nieces, Sue Sandquist of Connecticut and Sheryl Kazalski of New Hampshire.

She was predeceased by her husband; and her brother, Gerald Payne.
