RUMFORD —  Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in Rumford Falls Auditorium to consider a few items before entering executive session on two matters.

Three agenda items at the regular board meeting pertain to continued efforts to pass a municipal budget.

The budget was initially rejected by voters June 11. Eight of 12 budget articles were then rejected July 23, forcing selectmen on Monday to approve new recommendations for General Government, Public Safety, Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works, General Assistance, Capital Accounts and Unclassified Accounts budgets.

The Finance Committee was to make its recommendations at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, in Rumford Falls Auditorium.

At Thursday night’s selectmen meeting, approvals are sought on setting a date for the budget public hearing, date for the secret poll election meeting to vote on the budget, and choosing a warden and deputy wardens for the 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. polls.

Additionally, selectmen will appoint a health officer and members to other boards and committees.

They are also asked to approve a liquor license and special amusement permit for 49 Franklin, and a request for discharge of a mortgage for 94 River St.

The first executive session is for an economic development matter with former Selectman Jim Rinaldo; the second, a personnel matter with Town Manager Carlo Puiia.
