1946 – 2013

AUBURN — Ralph E. May Sr., 67, of Poland and formerly of Lewiston, passed away Tuesday, July 30, at the Androscoggin Hospice House with his family by his side.

He was born in Lyman on July 2, 1946, the son of Grover and Dorothy Mae (Gordon) May Sr., and attended schools in the Oxford area. On June 10, 1967, he married Joline Bourget and she passed away on Jan. 11, 2012.

He worked for 27 years as a brick layer, until his retirement. He was a volunteer for the Lewiston High School Music Association, where he helped out at bingo fundraisers at Pleasant St. Bingo.

He was a very avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, loved to watch wrestling and most of all being with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Bixby and husband, Donald, of Poland; his sons, Ralph E. Jr. and companion, Sandra White, of Lewiston, Joseph K. and companion, Laura Roberts, of Lewiston and Charles E. and wife, Toni, of Lisbon; his grandchildren, Scott May, John Luce, Amber May, Nakita Roux, Madison Brooks, Brian May, Montana May and Jordan May; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Judith Daggett of Florida; his sister-in-law, Lydia May; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Grover Jr., Clayton, Herbert and Robert May.
