DIXFIELD — At a recent University of Maine Board of Trustees meeting two RSU 10 literacy coaches were recognized by trustees for their accomplishments.
Marcia Nye Boody, director of Maine Literacy Partnership for Comprehensive Literacy, recognized Mary Buzzard, Rumford Elementary literacy coach, for completing her training as a MLP Coach.
MLP training is a one-year doctorate level program with extensive professional reading, writing and research. With the completion of coaches’ training comes national registration as a literacy coach.
Boody also awarded Jill Bartash, Dirigo Elementary literacy coach, the Advanced Literacy Coach title.
Bartash joins a select few at the national level who have accomplished this level of training. Only Lesley College, the University of Arkansas and Ohio State have faculty who have attained this level of advanced training.
