LEWISTON – Following three successful gatherings earlier this year of those interested in the social media scene, Lewiston Auburn Social Media Meetup has announced another fun get-together. This highly anticipated free event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Pedro O’Hara’s, 134 Main St.

The group holds regular social events at locally owned restaurants and bars in the downtown area. Larry Gilbert, Jr. founded the group as a way for participants to cultivate face-to-face conversations and connections with others involved in social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

“Lewiston Auburn Social Media Meetup really allows a unique and fun opportunity to network, meet new business connections, friends and engage in discussions about what makes the Twin Cities a great place to live, work, and socialize,” said Gilbert.

This is the first-of-its-kind group for the greater L-A area. These types of meet-ups have been gaining popularity in larger cities around the country and are key opportunities for many in-the-know business professionals as well as those looking to expand their social circle.

“This will be our first Meetup held at Pedro’s. We’re excited to partner with the restaurant and bar and allow our social media-savvy attendees to enjoy great food, the outdoor patio and of course Baxter Beer specials,” Gilbert explained. “Coupled with Pedro’s popular open mic night on Mondays, we are expecting a really nice turnout.”

Pedro’s is providing free snacks on Aug. 12. All events are for those 21 and older and free to the public.

“By supporting this Meetup, we create a fun environment for folks to leave their computer or smartphones for a bit and network face to face. Forward-thinking events like this can only help the Twin Cities expand their horizons, potentially to connections around the globe,” said Pedro O’Hara’s owner Bill Welch.
