DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks for all your great help. I know many people look at your column first. I know I do.

Many years ago there was a recipe for seven-day pickles. I think they came from the extension office. I believe you just changed the water every day with new hot water, but I cannot remember the rest.

Please help. I know this year we will have an abundance of cucumbers. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots looked through the recipes she has published in recent years and found some for refrigerator pickles but not with the criteria you noted. Readers, can you help?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do any of our farms grow Sweet Sue corn? It is a white, small-kernel corn and is very sweet. It is the best corn I have eaten. Thank you. — No Name via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I used to live east of Lewiston, and I loved picking up an occasional pizza from the Sabattus House of Pizza on my way home. Their unique crust is buttery and completely delicious. It’s my favorite pie.

Unfortunately, I no longer travel that way, and I miss that great pizza. Is there a pizza place in Auburn or Lewiston that makes the same yummy crust? You would make me a very happy woman if there is!

Thanks for your great service. — Craving Crust

ANSWER: Sadly, Sun Spots is allergic to pizza and has no personal knowledge, but surely readers will be able to help you out.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Recently I lunched at the Oxford Casino and had delicious crab soup. Is there any chance of getting the recipe? Thanks. — lorrainebarre@hotmail.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots contacted Scott Smith, spokesman for the casino, and he said he’d look into it, but there’s been no response so far. Chefs are often reluctant to release their recipes. Why would you come to their restaurant if you can make the same food at home?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The staff at Poland Spring Academy is in search of Abeka curriculum. We have limited funds and would appreciate any books that could be donated. Please contact me by email or phone if you can help us out. Thank you! — Crystal White, psayearbooker@yahoo.com, 207-998-4566
