1933 – 2013

AUBURN — Christine M. Ducharme, 80, of 140 Ash St., Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on April 12, 1933, daughter of the late Elphege and Lucienne Dube Custeau. She was educated in Lewiston schools and married Antonin “Tony” Ducharme, who predeceased her on Feb. 11, 1989. Christine was employed for many years as a stitcher in local shoe shops and later as a sales clerk at Porteous in Auburn, where she enjoyed meeting many friends and customers.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. Christine enjoyed her winters in Florida, but most of all she loved her family. She will be remembered as a spunky, fun-loving, positive woman.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Chuck Frechette, of Lewiston; a daughter, Diane Gagnier and husband, Greg, of Lewiston; two sons, Marc Ducharme and wife, Doris, of Lewiston and Denis Ducharme and companion, Patrick Phillips, of Auburn; four grandchildren, Kelley St. Hilaire and husband, Dennis, Corey Gagnier and wife, Cindy, Tricia Eslava and husband, Juan, and Derek Ducharme and companion, Danielle Lavallee; and eight great-grandchildren, Drew, Cooper and Daxton St. Hilaire, Josie and Macie Gagnier, and Elias Eslava, Megan and Gracie Place.

She was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Lussier.
