1957 – 2013

LEWISTON — Daniel R. Nadeau, 55, of Central Avenue in Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 20, 1957, the son of Roger B. and Lucille T. Rivard Nadeau. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1976.

Daniel was a chef by trade, with more than 33 years in the industry. He began his career in an apprenticeship program at the Balsams Grand Resort in New Hampshire while attending school at Berlin Vocational School in the culinary arts program. He worked at the resort for 3½   years.

After that, he traveled to several states working in various seasonal five-star resorts. He was sous-chef at the New England Inn in Intervale, N.H., for five years, returning to Maine to be closer to his family. He worked at Rolandeau’s Restaurant and was banquet chef at Martindale Country Club. He worked for 10 years at South Portland’s Macaroni Grill and Bug-A-Boo Steak House.

He loved to golf, watch sports and play cribbage and poker with his friends.

He is survived by his mother, Lucille of Lewiston; his sister, Diane Harvey and husband, Earle, of North Yarmouth; two brothers, Richard of Durham and Gerald and wife, Beth, of North Yarmouth; an uncle, Normand Rivard of San Antonio, Texas; an aunt, Anita Rivard of Lewiston; nieces, Lorene and Marie Nadeau; and nephews, Christopher and Stephen Nadeau.

He was predeceased by his father, Roger, in March 2006.
