ROCKLAND — A man was charged with driving to endanger Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in which emergency workers had to cut him out of his vehicle with the Jaws of Life.
Police said that speed was a factor in the rollover, which happened about noon Saturday and involved only Dustin Prescott, 23, of St. George. Prescott was driving a 2002 Buick Regal, according to Sgt. Ken Smith of the Rockland Police Department, when he flipped the car on Thomaston Street. The driver wasn’t wearing his seat belt and alcohol was not a factor, Smith said.
“The fire department had to use Jaws of Life, due to his injuries and the position of the car,” Smith said.
Prescott was taken to PenBay Medical Center in Rockport for treatment of injuries, which were not considered life-threatening, Smith said. In addition to the Rockland police and fire departments, officers from the Thomaston Police Department helped to shut down the road while rescue crews were working.
