LIMERICK — A 55-year-old Limerick man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly threatening his neighbor and sheriff’s deputies.

Christopher Sullivan had been screaming at the neighbor as the result of a past encounter, according to Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office. Police were dispatched to Sullivan’s neighborhood at 2 a.m.

The neighbor had sought a violation of protection order against Sullivan, according to King, and by the time deputies arrived, Sullivan was holed up in his house and refused to come outside and talk to police.

Sullivan continued to yell and police warned him through his door to quiet down or face arrest, the chief deputy said.

Witnesses at the scene said Sullivan came outside two or three more times after police had left, continuously yelling at his neighbor.

Around 6 a.m., Sullivan again came outside yelling, but this time he was armed with a chain saw and threatening the neighbor with it, King said.

When Sgt. Kyle Kassa of the York County Sheriff’s Office arrived, he could hear Sullivan screaming profanities and making threats with the chain saw, King said. As Kassa approached Sullivan, he allegedly refused to cooperate and attempted to flee back inside his house.

Kassa managed to catch Sullivan and place him under arrest, King said.

The sergeant later learned that Sullivan has bail conditions prohibiting him from engaging in any criminal activity. He was charged with disorderly conduct, violation of condition of release, violation of a protection from harassment order and refusing to submit to arrest.

Sullivan was evaluated at Goodall Hospital in Sanford before being brought to York County Jail, where bail was set at $500. Sullivan’s bail conditions prohibit him from having any weapons or contact with his neighbor.
