1936 – 2013

FARMINGTON — Donna Beverly Gammon, 76, of Farmington, formerly of Wilton, died Sunday, Aug. 11, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born in Portland on Dec. 10, 1936, a daughter of Roscoe W. and Rose A. (Martin) Melvin. She attended Wilton schools and lived in Wilton for the majority of her life.

Donna worked in local shoe shops, the Wilton Woolen Mill and as a baker and a waitress, which she loved very much. She also enjoyed the company of animals.

She is survived by her children, Susan Rose Martinez of North Carolina, Debbie Ann Roy of Lisbon Falls, Diana Beverly Kenney and Rose Phillips of Chesterville; grandchildren, Laurie Lake, Charles, Heather and Eric Purington, Rachel, Jorge Jr. and Jamie Martinez, Bryant Moss, and Corey and Melissa Phillips; and a sister, Marilyn Thomas of Harmony.

She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Erland Wilfred Purington, Jr.; and siblings, Roscoe Melvin Jr., Bertha Johnston and Bill Melvin.
