Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at 42 McAllister Road in Otisfield on Tuesday night. Fire officials said a family was displaced when cooking oil on the stove top started a fire in the kitchen. Although the homeowner was able to put the fire out, the smoke heavily damaged the kitchen. Firefighters also had to take out a window in the kitchen to vent the area. The Red Cross was on scene to assist the family, who were displaced for the night.
