1942 – 2013

LEWISTON — Robert R. “Beau” Beauchesne Sr., of Harlow Hill Road, Mexico, and loving husband of Georgette Arsenault Beauchesne, passed away on Monday, Aug. 12, at CMMC with his family by his side. 

He was born in Rumford on Dec. 8, 1942, the son of Fernand and Alice Dower Beauchesne. After graduating from Stephens High School in 1962, he enlisted in the Air Force and served until 1966.

On Nov. 23, 1963, he married his best friend and love of his life, Georgette Arsenault Beauchesne. This coming November, they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary.

Beau was a hard worker all his life. He began his work career working with his dad as a painter. After discharging from the Air Force, he began his 32-year employment at Boise Cascade, where worked in security. During this time, he worked for Graves Furniture, was on the mill fire brigade and served for many years on the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department. His retirement from MEAD in March 1998 was short-lived. He worked for SAD 43 and as a funeral attendant at S.G. Thibault Funeral Home. He then worked for 13 years for Crown Chemical and retired again in February 2013.

He was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior, a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

“Beau” enjoyed hunting with his sons and hunting buddies, following his grandchildren’s activities and camping on the Maine coast. Other hobbies included woodworking, rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots and playing cribbage.

He was dearly loved by his wife, Georgette of Mexico; children, Karen Phelps and husband, Michael, Robert Beauchesne Jr. and wife, Kelly, Kelley Fraser and her companion, Bob Lausier, and Michael Beauchesne and his wife, Pam; grandchildren, Andrew and Tucker Phelps, Jacob Beauchesne, Emily and Bailey Fraser, Michaela Beauchesne, Nathan Dayon, Ryan Dayon and his wife, Sara, and Kristi and McKenzie Bennett; his siblings, Lydia Mason, Fern Gallant, Daniel Beauchesne, Mary Gallant, Thomas Beauchesne and Patricia Lavorgna and their families; his aunt, Bunny Drapeau and her husband, Fred; sister-in-law, Jeannette Derouche; and all those who called him “Uncle Beau.”

He was predeceased by his parents, Fernand and Alice Dower Beauchesne; and baby brother, Richard.

The family would like to thank Dr. Aniel, Dr. Deluca and their staff, the staff at Rumford Hospital, ICU staff at CMMC hospital, Dr. Kim, the Palliative Care Team and the Rev. Paul Dumais.
