Food bank open in Sumner

SUMNER —  Sumner Food Bank will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 19, at the Congregational Church of East Sumner, 50 Main St.

Churches to sponsor blood drive

PARIS —  The annual Red Cross blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 6:3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School cafeteria. The event is being sponsored by Christ Episcopal Church and St. Catherine of Sienna Church of Norway.

Donating volunteers may call Rosalie at 743-7388 or the American Red Cross at 1-800-Red Cross to make an appointment. All donors will receive a Red Cross/Red Sox T-shirt.

Library hosting Author’s Night

WATERFORD —  Author’s Night will be held at the Waterford Library, Tuesday, Aug. 20. The third of a series of presentations by local authors will feature Dan Edwards of Bridgton at 7 p.m. His book is “Mr. McFrawley’s Traveling Show.”

Edwards describes himself as an illustrator/author as the pictures in this book reflect. He said his art was influenced by Tim Burton’s work and the story line also has that darker, Brothers Grimm side.

Edwards has been a professional illustrator, writer and animator since 1999. He has taught art and English and he ran a coffee shop for a while. He holds a master’s degree in education from St. Joseph’s College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology.

West Paris food pantry open for residents

WEST PARIS —  The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St.

The pantry is open the first and third Tuesday of each month. West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.

Spurrs Corner food pantry hours

OTISFIELD —  The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon.
