1939 – 2013
LEWISTON — Richard “Dick” Edwards, 74, of 80 Arcadia Ave., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at home due to a massive heart attack.
He was born in 1939 and raised in the Lewiston and Auburn area by his parents, Kenneth and Catherine Edwards. He attended Edward Little High School and later joined the Navy stationed on a battleship. He was married to his first wife, Connie, for 19 years and they had four children together.
He previously worked as a disc jockey for WLAM and later as a pressman for the Sun Journal.
Later in life he met and married his second wife, Anne, and together they enjoyed traveling and attending concerts. He also enjoyed sports. His greatest joy in life was his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He knew the true meaning of being a Christian and his soft-mannered demeanor let the world know he was a true follower of Christ.
After he and Anne divorced, they remained very close friends while she continued to take care of him.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Anne Edwards; ex-brother and -sister-in-law, Joseph and Linda Steele; friends, Nicholas Sperdakos and Nancy; four children, Richard Jr., James, Tammy and Wendy; three brothers, Peter, Terri and Stanley; and his sister, Roberta.
He was predeceased by his sister, Judy; and his first wife, Connie.
He was truly a remarkable man and his memory will forever live in our minds and hearts. He is now resting in Jesus.
