1956 – 2013
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — Ronald Dean Stanley, 56, of Washington Township, died unexpectedly early Monday morning, Aug. 12, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1956, in Farmington, a son of Dean Edward Stanley and Hannah A. Tilton.
Ron most recently worked on Thayden and Nora Farrington’s dairy farm in Jay, but has worked in many capacities over the years, including concrete and foundation work with his father at Forster Manufacturing in Wilton, as a self-employed carpenter, at Stowell Macgregor in Dixfield and for Merton Farrington cutting wood with oxen. He also built countless picnic tables over the years for various people and to sell along the road.
He was a former member of the Wilton Fish and Game and enjoyed being in the outdoors, whether it was for work or recreation, including hunting and fishing.
Ron is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia “Patty” Stanley of Washington Township, whom he married on June 15, 1974, in Wilton; his mother, Hannah Stanley of Jay; brothers, Dwight Stanley and his wife, Dolores, of Jay and Roys Stanley of Jay; a half-brother, Richard Starbird and his fiancee, Judy Fisher, of Dryden; a half-sister, Gail Eastman and her husband, Thaine, of West Sumner; an aunt, Barbara Morse of North Jay; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Dean in 1989; and an infant sister, Bonnie Stanley in 1956.
