1930 – 2013
LEWISTON — Edward R. Hurley died peacefully at home in Lewiston with his family by his side on Tuesday, Aug. 13, after a long illness.
Born in Lewiston on Dec. 12, 1930, he was the son of Charles E. Hurley and Marjorie V. (Demers) Hurley. He attended grade school in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1949.
Edward was employed at the Continental Mill for several years and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in England, from 1952-1954. He was then employed with New England Telephone Co., and AT&T for 33 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Therese I. (St. Louis) Hurley; his son, Daniel Hurley and his wife, Kathy, of Standish; his daughter, Gail Peck and her husband, Jonathan, of Pembroke, Mass.; his son, Kenneth Hurley of Auburn; his grandchildren, Brandie and Aeron Hurley, Haley, Lauren and Andrew Peck, Colette (Grondin) Levesque and Trevor Grondin; brother, Patrick Hurley of Atkinson, N.H.; two sisters, Barbara Bouchard and Marilyn Cadman of Lewiston; and a son-in-law, Guy Grondin.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Irene Grondin.
