NORWAY —  The Second Congregational Church, UCC, is looking for volunteers to help with the annual yard sale.

Yard sale coordinator Bruce Davison said the church can provide up to 24 hours of community service time for high school students in one weekend.

“Since 24 hours are needed as a graduation requirement, we hope busy students will take advantage of this opportunity. We need volunteers to sort and unload boxes, set up a book sale area, man a bake sale booth, cook hot dogs, move furniture, serve coffee, guard items over night. It’s some work and a lot of fun! Bring a group of friends.”

The yard sale supports the missions of the Second Congregational Church, which this summer alone have included the community free supper and the Maine Hunger Initiative free lunch.

The church supports a free community children’s theater workshop in the fall and many other local and global missions such as REACH, Safe Voices, Right Start, Community Lunch, Heifer Project and Maine Seacoast Mission.

There are opportunities to volunteer the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 21; the morning of Thursday, Aug. 22; all day Friday, Aug. 23; and the morning of Saturday, Aug. 24.

Students may volunteer for as little as two hours or as many as 24 hours. Call the church office at 743-2290 to sign up for a specific time and leave a name and number.
