1942 – 2013

AUBURN — David W. Steele, 71, of Auburn, passed away suddenly at his residence on Thursday, Aug. 15.

He was born in Portland on March 26, 1942, the son of Douglas W. and Althea Scribner Steele. He graduated from Deering High School in 1960, and the University of Southern Maine in 1964.

On Jan. 9, 1965, he married Marie Vincent of Auburn.

David began his career in 1964, working for General Adjustment Bureau. While there, he held many positions which led him to live in numerous cities throughout New England before finally settling in Portland.

He left GAB in 1990 to pursue an opportunity with Northern MGA and Dirigo Adjustment Services, located in Waterville, where he stayed until his retirement. He was highly regarded for his expertise in the property and casualty field and workers’ compensation.
