100 years ago, 1913
The main cable on one of the Lake Grove cars burned out at half past two o’clock Saturday afternoon, at the junction of Court and Turner streets, Auburn, and caused a ten or fifteen minute delay to two Lake Grove cars, two Figure Eights, the Auburn Heights, and the Mechanic Falls car. The Auburn Heights car pushed the disabled car out of the way and soon all lines were on schedule time.

50 years ago, 1963
Maj. William Tiffany of Auburn, commander of the Auburn Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, announced last night the beginning of a course of instruction in radio theory and international Morse Code, which will be open to the general public as well as members of the squadron. First Lt. Albert Guenther, Auburn, communications officer of the squadron, will teach the class, which will begin Aug. 26 at Squadron Headquarters, Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport.

25 years ago, 1988
The citywide revaluation being conducted by Tax Assessor Joseph Downey is depending, to meet a deadline next month, on a Buffalo, N.Y., computer firm to deliver several key programs. Sygma Inc., the computer firm which was hired by the city to provide the computer programs for the revaluation, was given a 22-week extension in March to provide three additional parts of a program. The extension expires in the middle of September and, said Downey,” It’s unlikely that they’ll deliver.” The city has paid Sigma $95,000 for the software.
