1936 – 2013

LEWISTON — Elizabeth A. Daniels, known to her friends as Betty, 77, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born at Augusta General Hospital on Aug. 16, 1936, the daughter of Marion (Fierling) and David C. Colfer. She attended Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School in 1954. On June 25, 1955, she married Joseph Reginald Daniels and traveled with him to London, England, during his stay in the Air Force until 1958, when they returned to the United States to raise their family.

They lived in Lewiston with their four children, Nancy, Peggy, Susan and John. Over the years, Betty worked at many local retail stores until she retired in 1999. She enjoyed bowling and Bingo, loved playing cards on Saturday nights and looked forward to the many trips she took with her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her husband, Joseph Reginald, of 58 years; her brother, Russell and his wife, Rolande; brother-in-law, Roger Daniels; her children and their families, Nancy Palian and Bill Carroll, Peggy and Ken Jean, Susan and Paul Applegate and John and Lisa Daniels; 11 grandchildren and their families, Ryan and Jessie, Christopher and Lizzy, Allyson and Joe, Andy and Hali, Matthew, Eric and Allie, Scott, Brian, Krysten, Elise and Thomas; five great-granddaughters, Gwen, Ruby, Ashlyn, Camryn and Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; four sisters, Nancy, Mary, Joanne and Mildred; and five brothers, Norman, James, Clifford, Leslie and Robert.
