PARIS —  The McLaughlin Garden and Homestead is welcoming community participation in its summer benefit auction. All proceeds from th live auction of trips and treasures will be used to continue the preservation of the historic garden, barn and property.

The auction will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in the barn, 97 Main St.

Admission to the auction is $30 in advance and $40 at the door. It includes food, a drink, music and unlimited bidding opportunities. A cash bar will be available.

Items include several international trips as well as unique items such as fine linens and an antique botanical print. Practical items such as a year of car repairs and plants for Maine gardens are also up for bid.

Local businesses and private donors are making the auction possible. All items are being posted online so that everyone can have a chance to see what is available and start bidding now, even if they cannot attend.

Contact the garden at 743-8820 to reserve a space or for more information about the event. Tickets may also be purchased at the gift shop located at the McLaughlin property.
