1917 – 2013
LEWISTON — Marie Anna Parent, 96, formerly of 26 Coburn St., passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, at Russell Park Manor.
She was born in Van Buren on Feb. 18, 1917, the daughter of the late Alexis and Catherine Theriault Parent. She was educated in Van Buren schools and was married on June 10, 1946, to Roland A. Parent, who predeceased her May 1, 1997. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was employed for 29 years at Knapp Shoe Co.
She was a very active member of Prince of Peace Parish at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality and La Survivance Francaise, Association Canados-Americaine, Marchandes de Bonheur and Knights of Columbus Council No. 106 Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at St. Peter’s School bean suppers and the school lunch program, and was a part of the Lewiston Senior Citizens and its bowling and pinochle leagues.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Cecile Gagnon and Theresa Patry; and a brother-in-law, Robert Parent and wife, Rita, all of Lewiston; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four sisters, Gertrude Paradis, Corinne Lebel, Yvonne Parent and Aurore Levesque; and three brothers, Leon Parent Sr., Oniel Parent and Louis Parent.
