1980 – 2013

SOUTH PARIS — Zachary James Wheeler, of South Paris, passed from death into life early in the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 22, with his wife of twelve years, Michelle Wheeler, by his side, after a brief five month battle with cancer. He spent his last few days surrounded by his many family and friends.

Zak was born in Little Rock, Ark., to Tony Wheeler of Little Rock, and Loreda Cary Wheeler of South Paris, on November 14, 1980. He spent his growing up years in South Paris, but always remained deeply loyal to his southern heritage. Zak graduated from Paris Christian Academy in 1999, and married Michelle Corning, his high school sweetheart, in August of 2001. Zak graduated from Cedarville University with a B.A. in Business in 2003, just one month before his first daughter, Maggie was born. Zak and Michelle moved back to Maine to be with family, and Zak began working for Proctor and Gamble in 2004. Zak and Michelle quickly added to their family with Owen, Mackenzie, Liam, and Seamus. Zak was an active member of the Moss Brook Church.

Zak is survived by his wife, Michelle, and their five children;  Michelle’s parents and siblings; his father, Tony Wheeler; his aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

Even in his final days and moments Zak was still trying to make sure that those he loved were going to be taken care of. He was an incredible man who didn’t always say a lot, but knew how to laugh, and when he spoke he always “told it like it was”. Zak will be hugely missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
