BANGOR — Police are seeking anyone who might have witnessed gunfire at Main and Middle streets early Sunday.
Criminal Investigation Division detectives called to the scene found physical evidence that proved a handgun was fired, said Bangor police Sgt. Jim Buckley.
Several witnesses reported hearing one or more shots at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday.
“People said that some people had been shot, but we didn’t see any evidence of that,” Buckley said Sunday.
Detectives and patrolmen interviewed residents and searched the area. No area hospitals have reported any gunshot victims, Buckley said.
The shooting hasn’t yet been linked to any other criminal activity at Main and Middle streets, Buckley said.
“We don’t have any particular problems in that area, at least not that I am aware of,” Buckley said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call detectives at 947-7384. All calls are confidential, police said.
