AUBURN — Ascent To Power, a regional metal band established in 2010, has won this year’s Xtreme Rock USA Battle of the Bands.

On August 24, USA Xtreme Rock hosted their annual Battle of the Bands at Club Texas. The battle began with hundreds of submissions from which eight bands were selected to go through a semi-final period in which online and call-in votes were cast to determine the top four bands. Ultimately, the top four bands included Ascent To Power, 13 High, Dark Rain, and Breakthrough. Then all four bands played live in a showdown.

The bands drew straws for the order of playing which was 13 High, Breakthrough, Ascent To Power, and Dark Rain. Each band was given 45 minutes to perform. The winner was determined by a combination of scoring for onstage presence, music and songs, crowd participation, and musicianship.

“We are proud to have won and be mentioned alongside the past champions and awesome musical talent,” said guitarist Jay Beals.

“We are looking forward to a lot of great upcoming shows with Xtreme Rock USA and bringing our metal to the people, because that is what Ascent to Power is about: Grass Roots, for the people by the people,” said front man Rick Servidio.

Ascent To Power is currently wrapping up the recording of “World Order” due out at the end of 2013 and getting ready for a number of shows including their upcoming opening slot for Thy Will Be Done and Acaro at The Colisee in Lewiston for the Rock and Tattoo Convention.
