BUCKFIELD — Fire Chief Tim Brooks was injured Wednesday when his truck and another driven by a local 19-year-old man collided on Route 117 just before noon.
According to Trooper Jason Wing, Robert Hermanson Jr., 19, of Buckfield was driving a 1998 Toyota pickup truck south on Route 117 when he came around the corner by North Hill Road “way too fast” and struck the chief’s truck in the driver’s side near the the door jam. The impact sent Brooks’ truck rolling into a ditch.
Hermanson, who was not wearing a seat belt, went face first into the windshield, Wing said.
Both drivers were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment. Wing said he was told Brooks was home recovering Friday.
The crash remains under investigation.
