WILTON — Police are investigating three home burglaries reported over the weekend.

Two burglaries, reported Friday evening, were at vacant homes on Route 2 West near East Dixfield, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Tuesday. A cuckoo clock was reported stolen from one of the homes.

In a third burglary, reported Sunday, a supply of medical marijuana was taken from a mobile home in Stoney Brook Trailer Park, she said. The amount and value of the marijuana has not been determined yet, Wilcox said. The owner reported it was there Saturday night but called police Sunday afternoon when it was not found.

Someone had climbed into a bedroom window, she said. Nothing else was taken. Wilton Officer Ryan Richardson is investigating the incident.

In the incidents reported Friday, someone forced their way into the home near East Dixfield by kicking in the front door, breaking glass and the storm door, she said. The person apparently took only a brown wooden cuckoo clock valued at $50, Wilcox said.

The vacant home had been checked earlier in the week but family members discovered the burglary Friday evening, according to Officer Brian Lynch’s report.

A neighbor saw a suspicious person hanging around the area within the last couple weeks, she said. The person was described as a white male, skinny, between 5 feet, 5 inches and 6 feet tall, clean shaven and with dirty blond hair. He was wearing a red T-shirt and jeans.

Owners of another vacant home on Route 2 West believe someone stayed in their home, Wilcox said. Nothing was reported missing to Richardson when family members called police Friday but they think something may be, she said.

Entry was gained through a window. A ladder was left propped up against the home where the intruder is believed to have gone through the window, she said.
