FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday to award contracts for snow removal in Freeman Township, Salem Township and Lang Township.

Commissioners received two bids, one for each of the two routes.

Fenwick Construction bid $7,100 per mile for 2013-14 to plow and sand county roads in Freeman and Salem townships. Contractors have to buy the sand and salt under the provisions of the contract.

Commissioner Gary McGrane of Jay said there were nearly 60 miles of roads to be plowed in that area.

The contract is renewable up to four additional years.

Fenwick Construction’s price to plow the roads in this area in 2008 was $6,550 per mile.

Commissioners also voted to award Craig Raymond of Lang Township the contract for snow removal there. His bid for 1.7 miles of county roads was $12,500 for the season.
