1955 – 2013
BRUNSWICK — Denise Christiane LaCasse-LaFlamme, 58, of Durham, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Monday, Sept. 2, after a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston on June 18, 1955, a daughter of the late Roger and Georgette (Fontinelle) LaCasse. She grew up in Durham among a big, loving family and was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1973. Denise proudly raised two boys, Mike and Jake, as a single mother.
She was employed by Classic Cadillac Olds of Falmouth for several years, where she met and married her husband of 23 years, Philip A. LaFlamme, of Nashua, N.H. They had two children, Amanda and Patrick, and settled in her hometown of Durham. During her time in Durham, Denise was active in the community, including the local and state chapters of the PTA. She was a town selectperson for a number of years and voted-in as town chairperson, a job which she truly enjoyed.
She volunteered for many community activities, as well as taking a job as a well-loved substitute teacher for Durham Elementary School. Denise loved life, her family, her friends and enjoyed her relationship with the “Durham Moms.” She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and loved all children. Denise dedicated herself to her family and took great pride in achieving her goals in the politics of the community.
She is survived by her husband, Philip A. LaFlamme; children, Michael LaCasse of Fairfield, Calif., Jacob Pelletier of Nashua, N.H., Amanda and Patrick LaFlamme of Durham, Philip LaFlamme Jr. of Gray and Tricia LaFlamme Albert of Amherst, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth and Brandon LaFlamme of Gray, Tyler Millard, Ellijah and Noah Pelletier of Nashua, N.H., Jack and Sam Albert of Amherst, N.H., and Zoe and Chloe of Fairfield, Calif.; seven siblings, Jackie Merrill, Christine Emerson, Patt Tarr, Mike LaCasse, Mark LaCasse and Gerard LaCasse, all of Durham, and Pete LaCasse of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins, all of whom she loved deeply.
