CASCO — John Manoush will present “Daily Life in the Early 1800s” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Raymond-Casco Historical Museum, Route 302.
As a trustee of the Hawthorne Community Association for the last 11 years, Manoush has learned about Nathaniel Hawthorne’s early life when he lived in Raymond between about 1812 and 1825.
Picking up where he left off at last year’s presentation Manoush will continue on to other aspects of life in the early 19th century.
Consulting a number of sources, including books of the late Ernest Knight of Raymond, a founding member of the Raymond-Casco Historical Society, he has attempted to construct a picture of what everyday life was like concerning eating, drinking, smoking, shopping, entertainment and travel.
All are welcome to the free program. For more information, visit www.raymondcascohistory.org or call Pam Grant at 655-2438.
