LEWISTON —  The YWCA has a full schedule of swim lessons mornings, afternoons, evenings, with registration open now. Swim lessons are beginning this week.

The YWCA also offers private and semi-private lessons. Details of times may be found at www.ywcamaine.org or by calling the YWCA at 795-4050.

Water Babies, Puddle Jumpers, and Parent & Tot classes are available for children age 6 months through 35 months. They are water adjustment classes. Parents accompany their child in the water. YWCA staff will help parents select the appropriate class, and there are many time slots during the week.

Water Explorers is for children age 2 to 6 who are afraid of being in the water and helps them conquer this fear. Parents accompany their child in the water.

Aquatots, Guppies, Jellyfish, Polliwog, and Tadpole classes are designed to help children from age 3 to 15 learn and develop the skills to become proficient swimmers. Classes are paced for the age and ability level of each child and YWCA staff will help parents decide on the most appropriate level for their child.

American Red Cross water safety classes for stroke development, stroke refinement and fitness are also offered to youth.

Adult lessons are available for adults (15 and older) who have never had swimming lesson or are still working on beginner strokes.
