SUMNER —  A Sumner Scholarship Fund Bottle Drive will take place Saturday, Sept. 7.

Ski history at Waterford Historical Society

WATERFORD — Ski journalist and historian Scott Andrews of Portland will be the speaker at the Waterford Historical Society meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12. He will discuss the ski history of Maine.

Andrews has been researching the winter carnival that took place for several years in North Waterford and he would like to hear from local people about their memories or see pictures of the carnival.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the North Waterford Museum, where winter carnival events once took place. There will be potluck refreshments.

A change is being announced in the regularly scheduled WHS meeting for November. The program on cranberry farming in the area will take place on Thursday, Nov. 7, instead of the previously announced Nov. 14. The location remains the same: the North Waterford Church, with a potluck supper preceding.
