TURNER — Brianna DeGone scored a pair of goals and Sadie Royer scored once and collected a pair of asissts as Leavitt landed on Morse with a 6-1 season-opening field hockey victory Wednesday.

The Hornets just jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, with Kierstin Leclerc scoring first followed by DeGone’s first of two goals.

In the second half, Emma Martineau, Royer, Emily Shaw and DeGone eached a goal for the Hornets. Leavitt goalie Sierra Santomango didn’t have to make a save. Leavitt outshot Morse, 30-1.

Cape Elizabeth 2, Gray-NG 0

GRAY — Megan Nicholson and Abby McInerney each scored a goal as Cape Elizabeth brushed aside Gray-New Gloucester with a 2-0 victory in a field hockey game Wednesday.

McInerney picked up an assist on the first goal and Hailey Petsinger helped out on the second goal.

Patriots goalie Adrianna Kimball made 12 saves. It was season opener for both teams.
