LEWISTON — A man who was shot in the shoulder Wednesday morning has been released from the hospital and was headed south, police said.

Rene Jefferson, 32, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was treated at Central Maine Medical Center and released, Lewiston police Lt. Michael McGonagle said.

As of Thursday, no arrest has been made, and police were not releasing details of the shooting.

“We have a victim that’s not being fully cooperative right now,” McGonagle said. “We have a suspect. It’s under investigation.”

At 7 a.m. Wednesday, a man reportedly suffered a gunshot to the shoulder while walking on College Street. Jefferson is known by police, McGonagle said. “We’ve had dealings with him.”
