DIXFIELD — The recent intermunicipal proposal between Rumford and Mexico and consideration of sewer repair abatement requests are among the items to be discussed at Monday’s selectmen meeting. It starts at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Ludden Memorial Library Conference Room.
Officials from Rumford, Mexico and Dixfield gathered Tuesday evening to discuss a proposal by New Hampshire consulting company Municipal Resources that would help identify areas where the towns could cooperate and consolidate services.
Selectmen from Rumford and Mexico unanimously approved the proposal. Dixfield Town Manager Linda Pagels-Wentworth, who attended the joint meeting along with Dixfield Selectmen Bob Withrow and Scott Belskis, said Dixfield would need to discuss the proposal with the other three selectmen before making a decision on whether they want to participate.
Pagels-Wentworth said Tuesday that the board would also have to wait until after their upcoming on the LEAN program. According to the minutes of the March 11 board meeting, Wayne Messer of the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments suggested selectmen looking into the program that has other professionals job shadow town employees to see if there are ways to make jobs more efficient and make suggestions in cutting costs.
The presentation, according to Pagels-Wentworth, will help the town “figure out ways we can provide the maximum amount of customer service and where we can improve to help us get there.
“One of the things they do is a waste walk, which is where they walk through our organization and find things that we can improve on,” Pagels-Wentworth said
The board scheduled the LEAN presentation for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16.
In other business, the board will discuss what to do with the tax acquired property bids submitted by residents.
According to the town website, there are 12 tax-acquired properties available for residents to bid on. The bids, which were due Friday, will be opened and discussed at the meeting.
