PARIS — The Board of Selectmen is expected to discuss confirming the appointment of a new police chief for the town at its meeting Monday evening.

Last Wednesday the board selected the final candidate during an executive session.

The town has been without a full-time police chief since March. Interim Chief Jerry Hinton, who works three days a week, has been aiding the selectmen and Town Manager Amy Bernard with the hiring process.

In November 2012, the town’s previous full-time chief, David Verrier, resigned to take a job with the Maine Correctional Center in Windham. Michael Dailey took over as interim chief but left this spring to take a job with the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

Selectmen are also expected to discuss the town’s road plan and changes in its nonstandard use form during Monday’s meeting,

The town requires groups or individuals wanting to use town roads or property for ways that aren’t considered “standard” to fill out a form that has to be approved by selectmen.

Last month Selectmen Chairman Bob Kirchherr suggested making an adjustment to the form to clarify standard and nonstandard uses.

Annually scheduled public events like the Christmas and Memorial Day parades would be exempt from filling out the form under Kirchherr’s suggested amendment.

The Board of Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.
