1938 – 2013

SANFORD, Fla. — Robert R. “Bob” Degone, 74, of Sanford, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, in the “Hospice Care Home” in Florida.

Bob was born to Leon and Edna Degone on Oct. 3, 1938, in Piercefield, N.Y. Bob married his best friend, Ann Murray, on Nov. 14, 1959. He worked at a machine shop, at International Paper in North Tonawanda, N.Y., and then transferred to the state of Maine paper mill.

Bob joined the Elks Lodge 2430 in Farmington in 1980, and is a lifetime member. He loved coaching little league baseball, including the “Beavers” and the “Red Sox” little league in North Jay. Bob, his four sons and wife, Ann, loved and enjoyed camping all of their married life.

Bob is survived by his sons, Robert J. Degone and fiancée, Deanne Oberton, of Wilton, Steven L. Degone of Peru and Charles R. Degone of Grovetown, Ga.; a special daughter-in-law, Darcy Degone of Livermore Falls; his sisters, Genevive (Robert) Simpson of Tonawanda, N.Y., Shirley Godin of Tupperlake, N.Y., and Rosemarie (Edward) Morrow of Tupperlake, N.Y.; brother, Raymond (Mary) Degone of Tupperlake, N.Y.; Bob was blessed with seven grandchildren, Joe and Brandy Degone, Brianna and Anthony Degone, and Jon Mikel, Rachel and Dylan Degone; and two very special great-grandchildren, Adam Degone and Emma Childs.

Bob was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Vogt; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Godin. In 2013, Bob lost his mother, Edna Degone; son, David M. Degone, and his special pal “Shitsuh,” Charlie Brown.
