NORWAY — A Waterford man remains hospitalized as an investigation continued Tuesday into the cause of a car accident that injured him and his teenage daughter on the weekend.
Paul Fillebrown, a passenger in the car driven by his daughter, Shannon Fillebrown, 16, also of Waterford, is listed in serious condition, according to a spokeswoman at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Shannon Fillebrown was treated and released from Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
According to Norway police Detective Gary Hill, Shannon Fillebrown was driving a 2008 Volkswagen just before 7 a.m. Saturday when the car went off Route 118 near Greenwood Road.
Police reports said Fillebrown was driving east and veered off the road, crashing into a tree on the passenger side where her father, Paul, 52, sat.
Hill said the police report indicates that “fatigue” may have been a factor in the accident. The accident is being reconstructed by Maine State Police.
Fire Chief Dennis Yates said both victims were conscious and talking when he and about 10 firefighters from Norway arrived at the scene. Yates said the Paris Fire Department was called to help extricate Paul Fillebrown.
Fillebrown was flown to Central Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight, which landed at the nearby Norway County Club. Fillebrown is the operations manager at the Bridgton division of United Ambulance Service.
