JAY — The Tri Town seniors held their first meeting of the new season on Sept. 9. The group met at a new meeting hall at St. Rose Parish Hall on Church Street with a covered dish meal enjoyed by 26 members and four guests.

Fernande Doiron, president, opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for the departed members and for the men and women serving in the armed forces. George Doiron was invited to sing “Happy Birthday” to members who observed birthdays during the summer, and Nancy Couture had made the birthday cake to be shared by all.

George then asked the group to join him in singing “Makin’ Whoopee.”

Fern spoke of a bus leaving from Dixfield headed for the Fryeburg Fair on Oct. 1. The cost is $10 and all are invited to attend. The American Legion holds a bean supper on the third Saturday of each month, and Fern suggested they should encourage the Legion by attending.

Ellie Mitchell and Joyce Richard were reported on the sick list.

Donna Cook and Lorette Chabot will supply refreshments for the next meeting on Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. A Chinese auction will be held that week also.

The 50/50 was won by Fernande Doiron.

Following the meeting and refreshments everyone enjoyed cards, games and bingo.
