BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will initiate its Conservation Book Group with a discussion of Professor Andrew Barton’s recent publication, “The Changing Nature of the Maine Woods.”

Barton, a professor at The University of Maine, Farmington, will be the featured speaker at the Land Trusts’ Annual Meeting on Sunday, Oct. 20. His book has been called “a dynamic look at the ever-changing nature of the state’s forests, following their unique evolution over thousands of years.”

The initial Conservation Book Group meeting will be held at the Land Trust Office, 18 Mayville Road, Bethel, on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. For more information or for help obtaining the book, interested participants are invited to call the Land Trust Office at 824-3806.

This will be the first of an ongoing discussion group with a focus on the wealth of literature devoted to ecology and land conservation.

Those attending the first meeting are invited to bring their favorite suggestions for future reading.
