1940 – 2013

AUBURN — Maurice R. Martel, 72, of Greene, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Hospice House.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 26, 1940, to parents Frank and Simonne (Vallee) Martel. He retired from BIW after 23 years.

Maurice was a member of the Antique Tractor Club and also enjoyed racing cars at Oxford Plains Speedway. He liked to travel and spend his winters in Florida. Maurice especially enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

Maurice is survived by his wife of 49 years, Emily (Gallant) Martel; his three children, Theresa and her husband, Brad, Maurice Jr., and his wife, Kim, and Jean C. and his wife, Angela; his five grandchildren, Christopher, Kayla, Austin, Ashley and Brandon; his brother, Gerald and wife, Madeline Martel; and his sister, Bunny and her husband, Chris Wright.

He was predeceased by his parents.
