1944 – 2013
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Douglas W. Flanagan, 69, of Bonita Springs, Fla., passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Friday, Aug. 30, at his home.
He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 28, 1944. He was a longtime resident of the Hermosa/Redondo Beach, Calif., area and was employed as a systems and software engineer in the Los Angeles area until his retirement.
Doug was known for his intelligence, quick wit and sense of humor; he will be missed greatly. Just prior to his passing he told one of his closest friends in California, “no matter how far apart, friends are forever.”
He was an avid sports enthusiast and played tennis every day he could. He passionately enjoyed the ups and downs of his beloved Red Sox and Dodgers. He loved road trips and would frequently drive to Texas to see his grandkids.
He is survived by his father, Henry Poisson, of Turner; a son, Chris, and wife, Sarah, and two grandchildren, Aidan and Brendan of McKinney, Texas; a brother, John Poisson and sons, Jarrett and Travis, and their families, of Auburn; a brother, Joe Poisson and wife, Maureen, and sons, Brett and Ross, and their families, of Jay; and, a sister, Cheryl Washburn and sons, Tim and Kevin, of Gray.
Doug joins his recently departed best friend, Kay Flanagan, of Minot, who passed in October 2011.
