DIXFIELD — Jeanne Elisa Kennedy, daughter of Karen Kennedy Keiper and Larry Keiper of Jackman, became the bride of Christopher Michael Richards, son of William and Darlene Richards of Dixfield, on Friday, Aug. 2. The bridal party appeared at the home of the bridegroom for an “engagement picture” and dinner. Upon arrival, they were informed that a surprise wedding was going to take place at a mountainside waterfall retreat, located behind the home of the bridegroom’s grandparents, David and Deanne Berry.

Karen Kennedy Keiper, mother of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Julie Hachikian of New York, Elsie Berce of St. Agatha, Katie Lavery of New Hampshire, Jamie Russell of Auburn, Shelby Saucier of Cumberland and Tori Mason of Orrington.

Justin Richards, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were James Curren of Connecticut, Brandon Berry of New Gloucester, Spencer Berry of Dixfield, Nick Kucia of Connecticut, Billy Otto of New York, Lenny Hall of Mexico and Tom Cox of Dixfield.

The bride wore a long white gown with sweetheart neckline, fit with a flare, complete with beading around the bodice to the bottom with a lace-up back. The bridal party bouquets were made with Maine daisies, black-eyed Susans, grown and arranged by the mother of the bride.

Due to the location’s remoteness, the wedding party was transported to the waterfall destination by four by four vehicles, where a champagne table, campfire and nature’s beauty awaited them.

The ceremony was performed by Nate Kinney, dear friend, in front of a cascading waterfall. After the ceremony and toast, the wedding party returned to the home of the bridegroom for a meal prepared by an aunt, Margaret Casey of Houlton and the father of the bridegroom.
