1944 – 2013

LEWISTON — Michelline I. Guimond, 69, formerly of 13 Judith St. in Lewiston, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Marshwood Nursing Center.

Born in Lisbon on April 3, 1944, she was the daughter of Donat and Cecile Chouinard Michaud. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School. Michelle continued her education, eventually receiving a master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine in 1999. She was an accomplished and published poet, and received the Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry in 1994.

Survivors include her partner, Constance Bourgette of Lewiston; three sons, Jeffery Guimond of Lewiston, David Guimond and wife, Gina, of Auburn, and Paul Guimond of Lewiston; a daughter, Karla and husband, Dennis Stratton, of Fairfield; a brother, Bertrand Michaud and wife, Patricia, of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Marcelle and husband, Elvin Rudasill, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lisette and husband, William Gilson, of Augusta; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Rachel Bourgette; a stepson, Charles Bourgette; and several nieces and nephews.
