PORTLAND — The Maine Supreme Judicial Court announced Tuesday it will make audio recordings of oral arguments in the cases before it available for streaming from the Maine Judicial Branch website for two weeks following the week of the arguments. The page is now live. The live streaming and the recent arguments will be available on the same page: http://www.courts.state.me.us/maine_courts/supreme/stream.shtml.
The Court has been streaming oral arguments live for approximately a year and a half. The new service will permit parties, attorneys and the public to listen to an oral argument that they were unable to listen to live, or to listen to an argument again. Each argument will be available for streaming until the close of business on the Friday that is two weeks after the week of the argument.
In announcing this new service Chief Justice Leigh I. Saufley said, “We are pleased to be able to provide the people of Maine greater access to the workings of their courts.”
