LEWISTON — Dr. Kathleen S. Bain, a pediatrician, has been appointed to the Central Maine Medical Center Medical Staff. She is practicing with Central Maine Pediatrics in Lewiston.

Prior to joining the greater Lewiston-Auburn medical community, she worked as public health physician with the Cincinnati Health Department in a busy urban practice and school-based health center.

She has wide-ranging experience as both a direct-care provider and quality management leader. Her professional background includes some 13 years combined experience as a pediatrician and medical educator at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Her quality management experience includes care delivery model design, change management, and collaborative practice system development. She has led quality improvement projects related to her clinical interests in improving Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and asthma care, as well as enhancing developmental screening.

Her practice philosophy emphasizes relationship building with family caregivers as well as community-based supports for children and families. It also informs an approach to families that takes into account their unique culture and the individual development of their children.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, she earned her medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. She completed residency training in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

She has two children and lives with her partner, John, in Portland. The practice is located at 12 High St., Suite 301, and may be reached at 795-5730.
