1936 – 2013

GREENE — Robert E. Libby, 77, a resident of Greene, died Friday evening, Sept. 13, at his home following a long illness, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 25, 1936, the son of Howard I. and Christine C. (Bradbury) Libby. After he was raised and schooled in Auburn, he joined the United States Coast Guard, retiring after 20 years. He was then employed for Gates Formed Fiber in Auburn for 25 years, retiring in 1998.

Survivors include his wife, the former Alice Bragg of Greene; his children, Arlene and Dannie Cochran of Perry, Fla., Jeanine and John Reed of Greene, Raymond and Christine Libby of Buckfield and Richard Libby of Greene; his sisters, Harriette Kilbride and Geraldine Call; his brothers, Horace and Roberta Libby and Warren Libby; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Arnold and Gary Libby.

The family would like to thank Robert’s caregivers at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center during his illness, as well the staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and Greene Pharmacy for the exceptional service in delivering Dad’s prescription at any hour of the day.
