JAY — A POW-MIA Day service will be held Friday, Sept. 20, at the Prisoners of War, Missing in Action Remembrance Bridge Monument of All Wars, on Riley Road, just off Route 4.
The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
National POW-MIA Recognition Day is designated each year by presidential proclamation and is held on the third Friday in September.
The day is set aside for the U.S. to remember those members of the armed forces who are or were held as prisoners of war or are missing in action from any war.
This year, those who were held captive or are missing during the Korean War will be recognized, because it is the 60th anniversary of the signing of the armistice to end the war.
Veterans and United Bikers of Maine will be among those attending.
