STALEY, N.C. — Edward “Ed” Mason, 67, of Staley, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, at his home.

Edward was born in Dedham, Mass. on Oct. 14, 1945, to Frank Asa and Audrey Phillips Mason, who preceded him in death. He was retired from the State of Maine as a social worker for adults with development disabilities. Ed loved the ocean and sailing, gardening, raising chickens and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Lattz, of the home; sister, Ann Grant of Boston, Mass.; brother, Phillip Mason and his wife, Diana; nieces, Michelle Boyle and Jennifer Carter, both of Massachusetts; and great-nieces and great-nephew, Victoria and Mason Boyle, Allison and Lauren Carter, all of Massachusetts.
